NYC’s Coolest Museums
One of the countless attributes that Manhattan is well known for are its many fantastic museums. Most obviously there are the art museums like The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, but there are also many other kinds of museums such as the American Museum of Natural History and even a great wax museum.
Below you will find a quick description of each of the 5 museums I just mentioned in order for you to find out which of these museums you want to visit while in New York. Entry to all five of these museums is a feature of the New York Pass.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art – This enormous art history museum is often referred to simply as “The Met” and while it’s primarily museum of art it’s also much more than just that. It’s a wonderful place to check out for anyone who is interested in history. The only negative with museum is also its biggest positive; it is so large that it can be a little bit overwhelming. It’s impossible to really see everything in only one day.
The MoMA – The MoMA is focused on people who are very interested in modern art. It includes artwork by Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, and Salvador Dali. I would have to say that this museum isn’t as “kid friendly” as some of the others on here. If you have kids you may want to go to another museum.
The Guggenheim Museum – The Guggenheim is probably more well known for its incredible architectural design than the artwork within it. The circular building was designed by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright in the late 1950s. It is definitely worth going inside and checking it out (and of course the great artwork!) It’s not as much of an overwhelming experience as the MoMA and the Met.
The American Museum of Natural History – For most people I would say this should be the number one choice. It’s not only that it’s very “family friendly” but that I believe it’s interesting to more people. I really do not see how anyone cannot be curious to see a dinosaur’s skeleton with their own eyes. It’s amazing to stand next to the enormous skeletons.
Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum – This is a very “family friendly” place. Your kids will probably get a real kick out of seeing wax versions of famous people (both living and deceased.) It’s pretty enjoyable for adults as well. This is a great choice if you’re in the mood to be silly rather than serious.
The New York Pass contains free tickets to all five of these tourist attractions.
Whether you want to go to any of the museums listed here or not, you should definitely make use of the New York City Hotel Deals website to search for the best deals on luxury hotels in NYC.
