Seeing London By Coach

When thinking about a trip to England’s capital city it is easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer size of the place and the breadth of attractions to see. People often think about travelling about by foot via the the tube, or even by car, but if you really want to fit in as much as possible, and there will be a load of you, then by far the best way to get around the city is by coach. Not only can you put together an itinerary to fit in as much as possible, but also you get to explore the best of this vibrant and exciting city, without having to deal with the crowds.

So, if you’re going to London for the world class art galleries, from the National Gallery to the National Portrait Gallery and from the Tate Modern to the Tate to the Royal Academy, perhaps the best way to see as much as you can is to plan an itinerary with a coach tour. Not only can you fit in all the famous galleries, but also you can travel around London and sample some of the hundreds of smaller, more eclectic galleries, like the Wallace Collection or Somerset House, or like the Whitechapel Gallery or the Saatchi Galleries, or even the Cartoon Museum. The same reasoning applies to London’s museums, perhaps the greatest in the world. In order to see not only the famous museums like the Imperial War Museum, the V & A, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the British Museum, it is perhaps wisest to plan an itinerary and organise a coach tour, so that you can cover a lot of London and sample some of the independent museums like the Sherlock Holmes Museum or the Bank of England Museum, like Apsley House and Wellington Arch or the Brunel Engine House, or a particular favourite, The Centre for the Magic Arts.

Nevertheless, even the normal tourist box office sites are spread around in such a way that having a planned coach trip is much better than bolting about on foot (and via the underground) attempting to find most of the sites. If you were to organise a day out by coach, it would be simple to fit in all the well known landmarks, from the Tower of London to Buckingham Palace, from Parliament to Downing Street to Big Ben and from Westminster Abbey to St Paul’s Cathedral. And the amount of time you save in getting a coach to take the strain means you can inevitably fit in more stops en route, from the hundreds of old churches and cathedrals to the endless Victorian architecture, to the more famous, modern architecture, such as the affectionately known ‘Gherkin’. Even if you want to walk round London’s famous parks and gardens, the best thing to do is have the coach drop you off at one end and pick you up at the other; that way you can experience gardens and parks as diverse and spread out as the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, Hyde Park, Hampstead Heath or the Chelsea Physic Garden. It might appear strange, taking a coach to go for a walk, but if your passion is ambling around gardens or even walking along the South Bank, the best way to do so in a satisfied and relaxed way is to let a coach get you there first. Wherever you’re trying to get to in London, and whatever sights you aim to see, coach hire London really is the top way to see and hear the mass of sights and sounds of this wonderfully diverse city.
