Walks For Holidays In Egypt And Greece
Travel to Egypt and Greece to experience the cradle of Western civilization, the origin of drama, of history, sculpture and philosophy, and the birthplace of democracy. This route was managed without difficulty by the ancient Greeks and even the ancient Minoans. Nowadays connections have changed and what should be a simple journey is actually quite complicated and long. Instead, we walk during holidays in Egypt and Greece for pleasure, and where better to meander than along the coast. Waking – potentially the healthiest and the cheapest way to get around on holiday – is a great way to explore.
Temperatures tend to dip to very pleasant levels in the evenings as the low levels of atmospheric humidity in most areas of Egypt and Greece prevent the air from trapping much heat. Coastal areas near open waters (especially on many of the islands away from tightly-closed bays and gulfs) tend to be quite breezy, and can be quite cold at night.
Walk the coastal path from Gagkou Beach on the island of Samos through beautiful flora where you can see the crystal clear coves. This is the perfect place to watch the sunset, and if you walk down this path you will find two small and deserted beaches. The remains of some of the ancient mines at Sifnos close by are marked on some maps. There is also an island that offers walking tours throughout the summer. Plakias is a quiet and small resort on the South coast of Crete. There is an incredible beach here – which is complimented by mountainous scenery which is great for walking.
Here the surroundings reflect a mosaic of varying and beautiful landscapes. For a view that is quite impressive you should walk along the Alexandrian Corniche from Midan Sadd Zaghloul to Fort Qaitbey. It depends on how many times you stop, but it usually takes about an hour at a pretty slow pace. Meander through Jordan on holidays in Egypt.
You will fall in love with the walking trails in these two countries and it won’t be long before you start planning another walking holiday to one of these grand and spectacular countries. Summer is definitely the best time to go – and you should do your walking in the early evenings.
