How to Keep Safe on Holiday
Some Simple tips to keep you safe on Holiday
Here is a quick tip that may help if you are ever in the unfortunate position of losing your passport when abroad. Take a note of your passport serial number before you leave and email them to a secure web email address. If the worst happens and you need replacements you can simply log on to an internet cafe and retrieve their details as this speeds up the process when applying for a replacement passport.
You can also do the same for other important documents such as Travel insurance, car insurance or travellers cheques serial numbers. I recommend using a unique code and inserting it into your serial or policy numbers just for extra security. Of course we hope this never happens!
Airport coach transfers are normally very safe as the major tour operators only use reputable companies but I recommend avoiding sitting at the very front seats of the bus as in the event of any accident you are closer to the windscreen!
Watch out for popular holiday scams when you are abroad. These scams include scratchcard competitions and can be tempting as they often seem too good to be true when you win a fantastic prize for attending a free presentation.
Request a high floor for your hotel or apartment if you are worried about the potential security of your valued belongings as ground floor rooms are an easier target in most cases. When you arrive in resort ask your holiday rep if there have been any thefts recently, very often it is the same apartments that have been targeted due to easy access or easy exit.
Another simple tip is only use registered taxi companies when you are on holiday as often you will find illegal taxis that are not regulated looking for your business. These companies can often charge a high premium as they don’t use meters for your fare!
