Camping can be a rewarding experience, getting away from the business of day to day life. But unless a camper has the right equipment, it may not be quite so comfortable.
A good starting point with the basics is shelter, primarily a tent. Tents come in so many varieties, it may be hard to choose.
A good way to narrow it down is start with a price range and the minimum that is needed. Tents range from the very basic, like a two person tent (which is often just right for one adult) which can be found for around $100 – 200, to an eight person tent with vestibule for around $700. of course, they range upwards of $2,000, but unless there’s serious camping to be had, these expensive tents may not be necessary.
Another camping equipment essential is sleeping equipment. A good warm sleeping bag is a must have, and depending on the camping climate, these can be found with different degree ratings. Most campers also prefer to have an air mattress pad to go under the sleeping bag, and these can be just an inch or so thick unlike the mattress sized ones used for overnight guests.
When camping, campers must eat, so cookware is important. Camp stoves are necessary and a good one can be found for around $150, and some pots and pans are important as well. These sometimes come in sets and also come in a single pot that can serve one person well. A bowl, a plate and a cup may be included in the set, if not, they will need to be purchased separately to have something to eat off of, same with silverware.
Of course, many of these essentials can be very elaborate, and there are tons of accessories to find as well. Camping can be as deluxe or as primitive as desire and money allows.
