Cruise Vacation Basics – The 3 "Rights" When Searching For a Cruise
How to get the best cruise vacation at the best price possible. This is a question that many people ask, and for good reason. During these uncertain economic times, cruises represent the best possible value in a vacation, but we can still try to make it even better.
To that end, I have made a list of what I call the 3 rights of cruising.
1. The right time of year for a cruise: Cruises are cheapest early in the year, such as the beginning of January until about the middle of February. After that, they start going up again. Almost week by week they will climb until the very expensive March Break. They get cheaper again in April, then get more and more expensive all summer. Then they get cheaper again in September and October. However, during the September and October cruises, weather will tend to be a factor. January and February tend to be the dry and less windy season in the Caribbean, and as such is my favorite time to go.
2. The right cruise line: Chose a cruise line that is suited to your taste. If you enjoy the party and fun atmosphere then Carnival or Royal Caribbean is surely your taste. Are you more upscale and class oriented, then you will prefer Holland America or Celebrity Cruiselines. Somewhere in the middle you will find Princess and Norwegian Cruiselines. These are both a lot of fun combined with class. Age is a factor too. Young people usually prefer Carnival or Norwegian Cruiselines while older people tend to appreciate the ambiance of Holland America.
3. The right booking agent: You can easily book through the cruise line once you have made a decision, but the best way is to get different agents to compete for your money. Send a email to a number of different agents telling them what you want and inform them that you have sent similar emails to a number of different agents. You can also use websites that specialize in competing for your cruise dollars.
